JAY HUNTER MORRIS JOINS THE OPUS 3 ROSTER

Opus 3 Artists is pleased to announce the worldwide representation of tenor

Jay Hunter Morris. A veteran of the operatic and concert stages, Morris’ 2016-17 season began with a revival of one of his greatest roles: Captain Ahab in Jake Heggie’s Moby-Dick at the Dallas Opera. He joins the San Francisco Symphony next month in the role of Lazarus for John Adams’ The Gospel According to the Other Mary, and reprises the role with the St. Louis Symphony at New York’s Carnegie Hall in March. Following his memorable portrayal of Siegfried in Wagner’s Ring Cycle, he returns to the Metropolitan Opera this season for performances as Erik in Der Fliegende Holländer. In July Morris travels to China for performances of Tristan und Isolde at the National Centre for the Performing Arts Beijing under the baton of Christoph Eschenbach, a role which he also performs this season at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo.

Recent highlights include appearances as Captain Ahab in Moby-Dick at Los Angeles Opera, San Francisco Opera, and San Diego Opera. He revived the role of Teague in Cold Mountain at Opera Philadelphia, a role which he previously debuted in the opera’s world premiere at Santa Fe Opera. He traveled to Warsaw to appear in the title role of a new production of Tristan und Isolde at Polish National Opera and to Valencia to perform the same role with Zubin Mehta. The Glimmerglass Festival honored Morris as its 2016 Artist In Residence, in addition to his performances as Judge Danforth in The Crucible.
